Faerie Bearie #2 - Sunny

Sunny is my second Faerie Bearie! I think he could quite possibly be my favourite needle felt so far! He has such a sweet little face.

He waits, wide eyed and expectant, holding out a freshly picked spring bouquet. Won't you love him? He is 2 inches tall (sitting), 3 1/4 tall (standing) and 2 3/8 wide (includes wingspan). He cannot stand unaided.

His body is sculpted of a beautiful lemon yellow New Zealand Corriedale wool. His belly, paw pad, ear and face details are merino wool. Sunny is five way thread jointed.

He is holding a beautiful bouquet of rosettes that is permanently attached. His eyes are gold acrylic doll eyes. The wings are organza over wire and are sealed. They are flexible and bendable. I have embellished the wires with various beads to complement him.

Faerie Bearies!

So I'm taking a wee break from dragons, as they are so time consuming. I decided to go back to where it all began - bears, but with a touch of fantasy...and so "Faerie Bearies" were born. This has been something I've been thinking about doing for a while, but  have been so engrossed in completing the dragons I had queued in my imagination, they fell to the wayside.

Aurora is my first in what will probably be a line of many bears. She is only 1 3/4 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide including her wingspan. She is felted from a gorgeous merino/silk (80/20) blend that is a gorgeous blend of purples and natural white silk. Her paw pads, belly, ear and face details are a beautiful pink romney wool. Her nose is New Zealand Corriedale.

Aurora is five way thread jointed and is holding a lovely resin flower that is permanently attached. Her eyes are Czech glass beads.

Her wings are organza over wire and are sealed, so they are flexible and bendable. I have embellished the wires with various glass beads to complement her. I have attached them with silver metallic thread.

Aurora is #1 in my Faerie Bearie line. She comes beautifully presented in a satin lined window box, ready for gift giving or to put on display. Her tag is signed and has her name and birthday.

She is now available in my Etsy shop.

Panda!

I was inspired to make this adorable panda watching the San Diego zoo's panda cam.

This lovely panda was sculpted entirely of 100% New Zealand corriedale wool.

This little lady was a bit of a challenge and a new technique for me. Each "layer" of colour was separately felted and then joined. I gave her a firmly felted core and added then an extra layer of "fluff" over the finished piece to give extra depth, softness and realism. Instead of thread joints, she has felt joints so her arms and legs can be posed. All of her detailing (nose and around her eyes) are felted. Her eyes are black Czech glass beads.

Her bamboo is 100% New Zealand corriedale wool sculpted over a heavy floral wire. I added some thread detail and a beautiful green glass leaf bead.

One of my larger bear felts, she is only 3 3/4 inches tall (sitting) and 2 1/2 inches at her widest (as posed), but quite a round little handful. Her bamboo is 4 1/4 inches long.

Looking for a loving home.

Patches

Patches is one of my favourite felts, and I was quite sad when I sold him. His body is sculpted entirely of 100% New Zealand Alpaca and the pink detailing in his ears and brown nose are sculpted of New Zealand Corriedale wool.

His eyes are black Czech glass beads. His patches are from various fabric remnants in my collection.

Patches is only 3 inches tall (sitting), 5 7/8 inches (standing - note: he does not stand on his own without aid) and 3 1/2 inches at his widest (sitting).

He is five way thread jointed and his head, arms and legs are posable.

Patches has been sold and is living with his new family in Finland. If you would like a felt similar to Patches, please contact me.

Tammie the Cat

She is sculpted entirely of 100% New Zealand Corriedale wool and her eyes are green Swarovski crystals. Her paw details are rayon thread.

Tammie is only 2 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/3 inches at her widest. Her head, arms, legs and tail are poseable. Her tail is sculpted over wire and can be gently posed any way you like.

She has been SOLD, but custom orders are always available.

The Koalas

Emily is the smallest felt I have made. She is a tiny 2 inches tall and is sculpted of merino wool. her eyes are tiny beads. She is fully 5-way thread jointed. She now lives with her new family in the US.
Such a cutie! She was very poseable and very photogenic!

Edgar was my next koala. He is sculpted of merino wool and now lives with his new family in the UK.

Although my koalas have been SOLD, I would be happy to make one for you. Please contact me.

The Three Bears

It all began with Frosty, my first needle felt. He is a polar bear made of merino wool. I ordered a bear kit from Living Felt and was hooked from then on!

He is 3 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide. Frosty has been SOLD.

My next bears were further down the line in between my dragons. Celeste was the first. She is made of a gorgeous navy blue merino wool.

Her eyes are clear Swarovski crystals to simulate stars. (Do you notice the celestial theme here?)

She also has a needle felted moon that is sculpted of merino wool. She is 3 inches tall sitting, 4 1/2 inches tall standing and 4 1/2 inches wide. Her moon is 1 3/4 tall and 1 1/2 inch wide.

Strawberry was my next project. I got these big beautiful doll eyes and wanted to do something with them. Her body, nose and shading are merino wool and her eyes are jet black plastic doll eyes. She is a very pretty red berry shade, brown nose and burgundy shading.

I also made her a pink needle felted heart made of merino wool.

She is 3 1/4 inches tall sitting, 5 1/4 inches tall standing and 4 inches wide. Heart is 1 1/4 inch by 1 1/4 inch.

Celeste and Strawberry are available in my Etsy Shop.
