Panda!
I was inspired to make this adorable panda watching the San Diego zoo's panda cam.
This lovely panda was sculpted entirely of 100% New Zealand corriedale wool.
This little lady was a bit of a challenge and a new technique for me. Each "layer" of colour was separately felted and then joined. I gave her a firmly felted core and added then an extra layer of "fluff" over the finished piece to give extra depth, softness and realism. Instead of thread joints, she has felt joints so her arms and legs can be posed. All of her detailing (nose and around her eyes) are felted. Her eyes are black Czech glass beads.
Her bamboo is 100% New Zealand corriedale wool sculpted over a heavy floral wire. I added some thread detail and a beautiful green glass leaf bead.
One of my larger bear felts, she is only 3 3/4 inches tall (sitting) and 2 1/2 inches at her widest (as posed), but quite a round little handful. Her bamboo is 4 1/4 inches long.
Looking for a loving home.
